Xbox head Phil Spencer has published an editorial on the Microsoft Blog expressing the importance of diversity, and committing the company to combating toxicity online. To that end, he identified three key initiatives for the Xbox team.
The first initiative is expending the group of Xbox safety team, and the Xbox security team can step up oversight and remain vigilant. The group of community leaders known as Xbox Ambassadors will also be working on "community missions" to help create an inviting environment for players.
The second is to create more tools for players and community leaders to tailor their level of engagement to their comfort level.This summer, club managers will get more access to the content moderation feature, and other content moderation tools will be available by the end of 2019.It is also working on simpler parental control tools, as well as a gaming camp launched this summer to teach children healthy habits.A portal called 'For Everyone' recently launched on Xbox.com to track these activities.
Finally, Microsoft will share its security technology across the industry, including its research, data science, and audit teams.The company compared the plan to the PhotoDNA technology it shares with police and tech companies to combat child pornography.
